Multimodal prompting is the design of instructions and context for models that can reason across more than one modality. It includes choosing which evidence belongs as text, image, audio, video, document pages or structured data; directing attention to relevant regions or time ranges; defining the task and output schema; distinguishing observation from inference; requesting citations or evidence anchors; and verifying that the model actually used the supplied modality correctly.
